Golfing Manila

Class 1 Philippine Golfing Destination

Surprisingly, golfing in Manila is possible in almost every city that makes up the metropolis; if not a championship course then at least a driving range & practice green is available. This unique 'golfing in the city' phenomenon is largely due to the rapid expansion of Metro Manila since World War II that has encompassed golf courses the were originally built on scrub-land and marshes. You can play golf on championship golf courses in the cities of Makati, Manila, Mandaluyong, Pasay, Quezon and Taguig.

A golfing holiday in Manila has been the favorite stress-relief vacation for brokers and bankers from Hong Kong for more than four decades. More recently, golfers from China, Japan and Korea travel to Manila for a golfing vacation because the green fees are noticeably less expensive than when playing at home . . . and they can play golf year-round in a tropical environment that never gets colder than a hot summer day in Beijing, Tokyo or Seoul.

Golfing In Manila

At most golf courses in Metro Manila you do not have to be a member, you just have to bring your passion and pay non-member green fees, then rent clubs and hire people to assist.

Villamor Golf Course, Pasay

One of the most oft played golf courses is the Villamor Golf Course, Pasay City, owned and maintained by the Philippine Air Force. Villamor Golf Course is an 18-hole par 72 course, challenging to all golfers due to the many large, established trees and water hazards. Green fees vary depending on the day of the week and whether it is a public holiday but rarely exceed US$75.

Intramuros Golf Course, Manila

Another favorite, and visually totally unique course, is the Intramuros Golf Course, Manila City, that encompasses most of the fortress walls for the old city of Manila. The 18-hole Intramuros Golf Course is well maintained and open to non-members throughout the year; playing golf in the evening is possible at Intramuros. Green fees vary depending on the day of the week and public holidays but are typically below US$70.

Wack Wack Golf & Country Club, Mandaluyong

set in the heart of Mandaluyong City is the Wack Wack Golf & Country Club. One of the oldest Manila golf courses, Wack Wack Golf & Country Club was once a golf club set amongst open fields but is now surrounded by towering, modern city skyscrapers. The Wack Wack Golf & Country Club surprisingly comprises not one but two, championship 18-hole par 72 golf courses. Green fees vary based on the day you play but are usually not more than US$135.

Veterans Golf Club, Quezon City

In Quezon City the Veterans Golf Club is not the most popular with golfing fanatics because of the narrow fairways, but if you are a beginner and you are looking to cover as many holes for the least expense then Veterans Golf Club maybe for you. Green fees for the 18-hole par 72, Veterans Golf Club course are a modest maximum of US$50.

Capitol Hills Golf & Country Club, Quezon City

Also in Quezon City is the Capitol Hills Golf & Country Club. Offering an 18-hole par 72 golf course for golfing enthusiasts, the Capitol Hills Golf & Country Club is considered one of the prettier city courses in Metro Manila. With green fee at around US$75 maximum, it offers good value.

Philippine Navy Golf Club, Taguig

In Taguig City you will find the Philippine Navy Golf Club. Offering an 18-hole par 70 course, the Philippine Navy Golf Club is an interesting course that is well maintained and competitively priced. Green fees vary but rarely exceed US$55; visitors welcome.

Philippine Army Golf Course, Taguig

Only got time for 9 holes? Try the Philippine Army Golf Course, also in Taguig City. The 9-hole par 33, Philippine Army Golf Course welcomes guests, and green fees are suitably modest at up to a maximum of around US$35.

Golf Courses Close To Metro Manila

There are half a dozen other golf courses within an hour of Metro Manila that are well worth a swing at, such as the Eastridge Golf and the Valley Golf & Country Club. Here the green fee start to edge up a little and can top US$140 on holiday weekends.
