Kayaking Puerto Galera

Class 3 Kayaking Destination

Puerto Galera is not the kayaking center of the universe but since the 1990s many dive shops have offered kayaking as a lay-day recreation for scuba divers, who cannot dive on their last day before flying. As a result, you can often find people kayaking the inner bays and otherwise inaccessible beaches along the Puerto Galera coast.

Kayaking Locations Around Puerto Galera

Puerto Galera's inner bays offer tranquil surroundings for kayakers, with plenty of places to go ashore and visit with local businesses and families.

For the more adventurous you can kayak across the Verde Island Passage or along the exposed beaches . . . perhaps go to Talipanan for one of Luca's famous pizzas for lunch. To the East there is an interesting river estuary to explore and many bays that you can just paddle into and relax on the beach.

Around Medio Island, and from Boquete Beach to White Beach, there are beaches and coves that are almost impossible to get to any other way than by kayak - because of the shallow coral reefs, that are most beautiful for snorkeling, or because the beaches front private land.

Rent Kayaking Equipment In Puerto Galera

Renting kayaking equipment in Puerto Galera is relatively easy. Most good beach resorts offer sea kayaks for hire but if the resort you are staying in does not, then you can rent sea kayaks, equipment and safety gear at the main ferry landing at Muelle Pier. Kayak rental prices are between US$5-10 per hour, proportionately less for a full day rental.
