Freediving Sibale

Class 1 Philippine Freediving Destination

Freediving around Sibale Island (aka Maestre de Campo, Concepcion) is sometimes accomplished when dive safari boats and cruising yachts drop by for a visit. There is no infrastructure on Sibale Island to support freediving but the Sibale Tourist Association will be pleased to assist you by providing fishermen as guides.

Freediving at depths of up to 180 Metres are possible within one mile from shore. Tidal flows are generally slight and water clarity is excellent.

Freediving Locations Around Sibale

The most interesting freediving location around Siable is the 40-year old wreck of the Mactan Ferry. The Mactan Ferry was beached and later slid down the coral reef to rest on its side, with its bow at about 20 Metres and its stern at about 45 Metres. Unless your dive safari boat has been here before and knows the precise location of the wreck then you will need to engage a local guide in order to find the wreck.

Apart from the Mactan Ferry wreck, the entire circumference of Sibale Island is surrounded by deep, clear waters for almost the entire year.

Rent Freediving Equipment In Sibale

Renting freediving equipment in Sibale is not possible; you will have to bring your own freediving gear. Dive safaris that include Sibale Island, with all the freediving gear you need, frequently depart from Puerto Galera, Mindoro, and occasionally from Romblon and Tablas islands.

If you are interested to learn freediving then Sibale cannot offer this as an option from local resources at this time.
