Kayaking Taal Lake

Class 2 Philippine Kayaking Destination

Kayaking Location Surigao

Taal Lake is a good location for Kayaking because there is such a vast expanse of clean water - the lake is up to 35 km across - and the views of Taal volcano make it one of the most beautiful destinations close to Metro Manila.

Much of the shoreline of Taal Lake is undeveloped and there are many species of native birds and birds that migrate through the Philippines throughout much of the year. Water birds, such as herons and egrets plus a variety of kingfishers, are seen in great numbers here. Birdwatching from a kayak gets you up front and personal.

A paddle across to Taal volcano with a packed lunch is a great day out or, you can go ashore a meet the friendly fisher-folk who live with the perpetual risk of moving house when Taal volcano rumbles, as it does from time to time. Fish, vegetables and fruit are most prolific on local restaurant menus.
